Drunk Driving Awareness at Kunhadi 'Taxi Night' 21st Edition
(What's up ?) 6 years ago

As an alternative to preaching about the risks of driving under the influence of alcohol, Kunhadi created Taxi Night: a party where guests are prohibited from driving their own cars. Instead, the organization for road safety awareness offers guests 2-way Taxi rides that pick them up from any area in Lebanon and takes them to the party venue. At the end of the night, Taxis take patrons back to their homes safe and sound!

In addition to mandatory complimentary taxi rides, what characterizes this party is the limited number of free drinks every guests receives - only two drinks - to discourage excessive drinking, as well as open water and soft drinks, to raise awareness on the importance of remaining hydrated while partying.
"Taxi Night" twenty-first Edition took place on August 6, 2018 at 10:00 p.m. at Iris Biel and is sponsored by Alfa managed by Orascom Telecom, Master, Uber, Zaatar w Zeit and Champs.

Kunhadi President Mr. Fady Gebrane thanked the Minister of Tourism, all the MPs, actors, singers, and talk show hosts and the sponsors for the event and all attendees who supported Kunhadi's message.

Mr. Gebrane stressed that in case Article 17 of the New Traffic Law is well implemented, it will be prohibited for drivers who have had their driver's license for less than three years since obtaining it, and for those who obtained the driving license after three years are not allowed to exceed 0.5 grams of alcohol per 1 liter of blood (equivalent to approximately 2 to 3 drinks). Mr. Gebrane asked for the attendees to support this law since they are a part of the Government.

Mr. Gebrane explained about "Save the Night" project aiming at having  safer nightlife in Lebanon created by Kunhadi, in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and the Syndicate of Owners of Restaurants, Cafes, Nightclubs & Pastries, where nightclub and pub outlets have to abide by the Save the Night Code in order to receive a "Quality Label" and post it at their outlets. If any nightclub or pub violates the Code will have the Label removed from their outlet and won't be able to join Save the Night project again.

In conclusion, Mr. Gebrane stated that all proceeds from the event will go towards the initiation of the first "Road Crash Victim Support Center" in the Middle East.

A number of prestigious public figures joined Taxi Night to set a safe role model for younger generations and promote the use of Taxis. Among the attendees was the Minister of Tourism Avedis Guidanian, their Excellencies the Deputies Mr. Alain Aoun, Mr. Elias Hankach, Mr. Edy Maalouf, Mr. Michel Moawad, Mr. Fadi Saad, Mr. Assaad Dargham, talk show hosts, athletes, actors, singers among them Fadi Al Khatib, Jessica Abdo, Rima Karaki, Joseph Attieh, May Hariri, Wissam Saliba, Hicham Haddad, Tony Abou Jaoudeh, Sana Nasr, Karla Boutros, Tarek Soueid Mr. Lebanon 2018 Rami Atallah and many other distinguished guests who have a notable place in the Lebanese community.

Kunhadi thanks your prominent coverage of this event since your role is essential in raising awareness against drunk driving to the youth and it is our collective duty to help them be more aware and find a balance in order to save their lives and the lives of others and the media has the ability to deliver this message.
