An Intimate and Genuine January Coffee Morning Hosted by Michele Niesiołowska, Spouse of the Polish Ambassador to Lebanon, for the Diplomatic Spouses’ Association of Lebanon (DSAL)

Beirut, January 24, 2024 – In an intimate and genuine atmosphere on Wednesday, January 24th, at 10 AM, the Residence of the Ambassador of Poland to Lebanon played host to an intimate gathering of more than 50 individuals. The occasion, framed as the January Coffee Morning of the Diplomatic Spouses’ Association of Lebanon (DSAL), unfolded with a sense of camaraderie and cultural celebration.

Addressing the attendees, Michele Niesiołowska expressed appreciation for the guests' presence and extended special thanks to Her Excellency Mrs. Joanna Wronecka, UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, for joining despite her demanding schedule. Michele, in her first Coffee Morning as the spouse of the Polish Ambassador to Lebanon, expressed gratitude for the entrusted responsibility and acknowledged the dedication of the embassy team.

The morning's program unfolded with a diverse showcase, including a journey into Poland's history, shared insights from Her Excellency Mrs. Wronecka on the role of women in diplomacy and her personal journey embodying Polish identity. Lieutenant Isabela Ostrowska spoke about her contributions to peace and stability as part of the Polish contingent to UNIFIL. Mrs. Katia Nakhle shared her mother and father's compelling story about Polish refugees finding solace in Lebanon during World War II. Additionally, a captivating segment highlighted Juliusz Słowacki's visit to Lebanon in 1837, showcasing the historical connection between Poland and Lebanon.

The atmosphere was further enriched by the captivating performance of Lebanese Soprano Nadine Nassar, who not only shares a special connection with Poland but is also an awardee of the prestigious Medal of Merit from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

Special guests, including Lucas Lamah, Diana Skaini, Randa Farah, Sandra Noujeim, Elsa Yazbeck Charabati, Myriam Shuman, Rana Najjar, Muriel Boustany, and Yara Fares, were acknowledged for their significant contributions to Lebanon and cultural exchange.

As the January Coffee Morning came to a close, Michele reflected on the importance of cultural diversity, stating, "In celebrating the rich diversity in this room, I am reminded of the beauty that different stories bring to our lives. This is the world I want to live in—a world of peace, respect, diversity, fraternity, democracy, and the rule of law."
