Bleeding voices 2014 was held on October 30th at the Casino Du Liban; a fundraising concert for the benefit of the Lebanese Association for Haemophilia (LAH). This association aims to "improve the medical, social, educational and professional situation of the people with Haemophilia and make them partners in managing their disease.
The concert commenced with the lovely rhymes of Michel Fadel as he played the piano. He was later accompanied by a talented young boy"Gio" to share with him a duet. The audience were astonished to know that this boy is diagnosed with Haemophilia. His mother was present and she expressed her support to her son and her happiness regarding the potential she sees in him. Dr. Noun, specialized in blood tumors, elaborated on the disease and how it can be diagnosed in early stages. Mrs. Solange Sakr; Co-founder and President of the Association was present, said that the number of Lebanese who carry this disease is approximated to be 1000, but not all are yet diagnosed. She added: "Despite their blue colored bruises and strain of joints, despite the pain, disability, prosthetics and risks of all kinds, these young people have the same potential and ability as anyone else.
The concert later featured 3 bands. "En Fa MI" performed classical songs such as "Adagio" "La vie en Rose" and many others. "The Bald and the Beautifuls"also lightened up the stage with rocking songs. "Novo Band "wrapped up the concert with some oldies songs, combining romance and glitter.
LAH has built an objective; to ensure adequate treatment for all by 2020. It currently manages the only Haemophlia treatment center providing comprehensive care. 40% of those diagnosed are less than 18 years old, 60% suffer from mobility impairment, so let's be part of it and help spread the awareness.
