The Romaïan Cultural Society organized its annual lunch on Saturday the 28th of January 2017 at La Marina Club, Dbayé, under the high patronage and in the presence of H.E. Ghassan Hasbany, DeputyPrime Minister and Minister of Health. This cultural association, non-political and non-religious, founded in Lebanon in 2014, aims to discover and spread the rich heritage of the Romaïan civilization (called erroneously Byzantine or Greek).
The Romaïan Cultural Society honors each year an eminent Romaïan personality who brilliantly served in the social, cultural, and religious fields.
The honored personality of 2017 was Professor Assad Toufic Rizk who introduced and developed the kidney transplantation in Lebanon. He was, for many decades, a distinguished professor at the faculty of Medicine of Saint Joseph University and the administrator of Rizk Hospital. He occupied twice the position of Minister in the Lebanese Government and was highly active in the Supreme Council of the Greek-Catholic community.
