touch, the leading mobile telecommunications and data operator in Lebanon, managed by Zain group, the pioneering mobile and data services operator in the Middle East, hosted the annual media Iftar in honor of the press and media representatives at the Boulevard Beirut restaurant. The Iftar was held under the patronage of the Minister of Telecommunications Boutros Harb, represented by the head of the Owner Supervisory Board Gilbert Najjar.


Newly appointed Vice Chairman General Manager at touch Peter Kaliaropoulos paid tribute to the media, whom he noted were touch’s partners in its development and successes. Kaliaropoulos expressed his pride in becoming Vice Chairman and General Manager at touch and said: "Together with the support of Zain Group and the Ministry of Telecommunications, we aspire to continue our pursuit of Vision 2020 making touch the regional reference in the telecommunications field and preserving Lebanon’s legacy as the Switzerland of the Middle East".

 

Kaliaropoulos confirmed that “touch is aiming over the next 3 years and beyond to accelerate Lebanon’s digital horizons and deliver the industry blueprint as outlined in accordance with the vision 2020 of the Ministry of Telecommunications, with the leadership of H.E. Minister Boutros Harb.”

 

He also highlighted touch’s various achievements till date, “among which acquiring highest market share of 53.3% of the market share, highest smartphone penetration in Lebanon reaching 84%, highest daily data traffic at 36 Terabytes and growing, and most importantly achieving the highest brand equity where recent market studies have shown that 62% of the Lebanese people considered touch as the best mobile phone service provider”.

 

 

Kaliaropoulos added: "What ensures our success in the market and the endurance of our beliefs involve three pillars: innovation, unwavering customer care, and our corporate social responsibility program that is in line with the orientation of the mother company Zain. Accordingly, touch’s mission is not only limited to providing advanced digital services to Lebanese people. On the contrary, touch also strives to embrace the Lebanese community and relentlessly support its humanitarian, social and cultural issues in creative and innovative ways in order to leave a positive touch on the community. "
