Martyr’s Square Reignited by Exceptional Festivities
(What's up ?) 5 years ago

The Martyr's Square comes to life, thanks to Beirut's Christmas Village initiative, a unique Christmas tree lighting experience, and a month-long series of events that welcome people from all over the country.

The exceptional festivities launched by Beirut Municipality and organized by BEASTS are taking place in the heart of Beirut, reigniting a fire in the capital that never sleeps. Beirut Events and Street Shows (BEASTS), is a non-profit organization that aims to preserve the Lebanon, known to be as a stunning attraction to the region and the world. By launching a series of events, including the 2018 Christmas Village, BEASTS hope to boost the country's economic status and remind people that it's a cultural, entertaining destination for tourists, businessmen, children, entrepreneurs, and old folks alike.

The festivities kicked off on December 3rd with the inauguration of the Christmas Village by the Municipality of Beirut, in the presence of official figures. A Christmas tree lighting ceremony also marked the launch of the unparalleled month in the city's capital. The heart of the city now boasts a Christmas tree of record size and decorations that set fire to Beirut's Downtown. The tree still stands tall and will continue to light the skies and surrounding streets throughout the month as the Christmas Village welcomes all until December 29th in Martyr's Square and as the celebrations continue in Nejmeh Square to ring in the new year.

Christmas Village

Beirut Christmas Village initiative is recreating the feeling of walking through a Christmas market in one of Europe's most magical streets. The program caters to all ages and segments of the society, creating a holistic experience born from the love, pride, and optimistic outlook for Lebanon.

The Christmas Village is open to the public for free and includes Christmas activities and attractions, parades, Santa Claus and reindeer, live musical performances by Lebanese Music bands including AB Brothers, Showtime Beirut, Iyam el Lira and other artists, in addition to entertainment shows for kids, including Louna's Group, and a market that showcases the extraordinary work of local designers. All these activities can't be done on an empty stomach. So, the food court has a large selection of restaurants that cater to a variety of taste buds. There's something for everyone to enjoy at the Christmas Village.

On New Years Eve, catch Nejmeh Square like you've never seen it before! Ring in the New Year with delicious food, entertaining music and live shows, and of course vibrant fireworks that will be seen from across the country's capital.

These activities are open to the public free of charge and will continue to transform the heart of the city that was once stagnant in Beirut's capital until the end of the year. Gather your loved ones and help us celebrate the holiday spirit, joy, and a brighter 2019!
