MORE LINES MORE TRAFFIC

Sometimes you can't help but rant - nevertheless, this one is relatable to most of us if not all.

It's about Traffic. Yes, Traffic. In Lebanon... WHAT? There's Traffic in Lebanon? Where...WHERE? In fact, my dears, it's everywhere.

However, today I will specifically be addressing one traffic jam that I'm a regular attendee to. Why? Because, it's avoidable. Stoppable. PREVENTABLE!

Location: City Mall Bridge.

Every morning I wake up dreading the moment I'll get in the car and drive. I know its rush hour and there's no escaping the traffic but we can try at least to let it not get chaotic.

The City Mall Bridge can handle up to two lanes. It's a one-way road and fits maximum two lanes. I'm stressing on this point because it's important to know that the more you add lanes, the more traffic there will be.

In the morning, we are all in a hurry to get to work, school, college... however, the fact that this two lane road becomes about 4 lanesbefore even reaching the bridge, this itself is causing:

1)    Much more Traffic - causing you to be even later.

2)    Blocking the road for cars not intending to take that bridge.

3)    Holding off the cars that came before and are actually waiting in the two original lanes.

4)    Further obstacles rather than fixing the problem.

Yes, I realize we all see the other person doing it so why shouldn't I? Believe me. Opening up 3 more lanes is the reason behind this jam.

Let me put it in a more visual way: There are 2 lanes. Yes, it might be moving slowly but it's still moving. However, now that there are 3 or 4 lanes, so there are cars at the beginning of the bridge rushing in front of each other causing a complete full stop instead of a slow movement. Do you see the problem?

Thus, by staying in 2 lanes, we are moving - not too fast but it's still moving, reaching the end of the bridge in a smoother and easier way. No puffing, no fuss and no sweat.

Lebanon, we all want to get to our destinations in peace. We are all playing on the same team. It's the morning. Instead of trying to cross each other and beat someone's car space, how about you listen to some music, sing along? It's a good time to practice some patience. Don't text! I know you will. I see you, yeah you! Your eyes need to rest too J

If we can only put staying in these two lanes to the test, then maybe we will have a better traffic flow.

All I'm trying to say is that please drive safely and let's work together to make our roads less chaotic.

Lots of morning traffic love from us here at Beiruting to you! Remember, we are all in this together Lebanon.
