Food lovers rejoice as the Beirut Cooking Festival and Salon du Chocolat commence

Beirut, the Best International City for Food once again celebrates the strength of its cuisine.Under the patronage of HE Minister of Tourism, Michel Pharaon the 6thBeirut Cooking Festival and the 3rdSalon du Chocolat were inaugurated at BIEL yesterday, November 17, 2016. Celebrating the richest flavors and latest trends in gastronomy from the 17th till the 19thof November, the shows bring more than 60 of the finest chefs, beverage and lifestyle experts to share with the public their passion for food, drink, health and wellbeing through a series of live demonstrations and workshops.

 

 

Food and fashion joined forces to create masterpieces of delicious chocolate for the popular chocolate Fashion Show, which opened the Salon du Chocolat. This year's guest of honor was renowned Lebanese designer Rami Kadi who collaborated with chocolatier Chef Charles Azar to create a 50s inspired gown, the theme of this year's event. Over 15 dresses were showcased on the runway during the opening ceremony and are on display for visitors to enjoy. A second Fashion Show will be taking place at 6pm on Saturday 19th November as the Salon draws to a close.

 

 

At the Beirut Cooking Festival, the "Pop-up Resto" made its debut, with full proceeds going to Tamanna, the Lebanese non-profit voluntary organization. Offering visitors the chance to savor a delicious meal prepared by top chefs, the "Pop-Up Resto" started serving guests on Thursday 17th November as Chef Kamil Boolout, representing The Fisherman by Abed el Wahab, got busy in the kitchen.Chef X Change hosted a lunch and dinner on Friday 18th November prepared by Michelin star Chef Maxime Le Van, while Beirut's award-winning Burgundy restaurant will take over the "Pop-up Resto" on Saturday 19thof November.

 

 

Joumana Dammous-Salame, Managing Director of Hospitality Services and event organizer said, "Year after year, we are very excited to host these two concurrent events, which spark great interest in gastronomy, and this year we are thrilled to be able to support Tamanna through a new platform at the festival." She added, "Food brings people together and we all unite over our irrepressible joie de vivre at this hopeful time which Lebanon is witnessing."
