Dear hikers,

Join us on the 17th of June to discover together the ancient cities and a wine factory in the Bekaa Valley.
We will have the opportunity to explore several historical and amazing places that will be explained by a professional guide who will give us enough informations about each place that we will visit. So don't miss this opportunity.

We will start our journey in shtoura to have our our breakfast then we will head directly to baalbek, niha, ksara wine factory, lunch in razmig restaurant in anjar and finally in anjar temple.

- Baalbek: is an ancient Phoenician city located in what is now modern day, Lebanon, North of Beirut, in the beqaa valley. Inhabited as early as 9000 BC. Baalbek grew into an important pilgrimage site in the ancient world for the worship of the Phoenician sky-God baal and his consort astarte, the queen of heaven. The center of the city was a grand temple dedicated to astarte and baal and the ruins of this early temple remain today beneath the later Roman temple of jupiter, baal.

- niha beqaa: it is located 8 kms north of zahle. It is famous for its Romans archeological ruins and in particular 2 Lower Roman temples that date back to the 1st century AD and the third temple located above niha. The first temple have 4 columns with Corinthian capitals. The second temple goes back to the Phoenician time.
The third Roman temple located on the top of Mount niha (El hosn), it was built to the Roman times.

- ksara (wine tasting) : we will have the opportunity to visit this wine factory, and we will be able to see the vine yards, the full explanation of the production of wine, wine tasting and also we can buy.

- lunch in razmig restaurant : delicious Lebanese food + fruits + sweets + coffee but without alcohol.

- anjar temple: founded during the umayyad period under the caliph walid ibn abd al Malak (705-715). The city of anjar bears outstanding witness to the umayyad civilization. Anjar is an example of inland commercial center at the crossroads of 2 important routes: one leading from Beirut to Damascus, and the other crossing the beqaa and leading from homs to tiberiade. It was discovered at the end of the 1940s.
Public and private buildings are laid out according to a strict plan: the great palace of the caliph, the mosque, small palace (harems) and the baths. Also there are decorative and architectonical elements of the Roman Era.

Departure: 7:30 am

Required materials: light snack to boost your energy, sunscreen, towel, cap, 2L of water. Don't forget ur Lebanese ID.

Fees: 75000 LBP (including transportation, professional guide, lunch, entrance to the ancient sites but does not include medical insurance)
