Queen Elizabeth's Net Worth-The richest member of the royal family
(World News) 4 years ago

Ever wonder what Queen Elizabeth's net worth is and what will happen to her properties when she passes away? It's no secret she's the richest member of the royal family so it's interesting to know what will happen to her assets in the event of her demise.

The reigning monarch earns her worth from income generated by the Crown Estate – which holds around $15 billion worth of properties in U.K., according to The Crown Estate. About 15 percent of the income generated can be used by the Queen for her events and travel costs.

The Royal Collection Trust – world’s largest private art collection owned by the sovereign and passed on to its successors – also constitutes a big chunk of Her Royal Highness’s income.

With all these properties and capital, Forbes listed the monarchy as worth $88 billion in 2017. The Queen herself, as an individual, was reportedly worth around $520 million with high-value properties to call her own like the Balmoral Castle and Sandringham House.

Prince Charles is set to inherit most of Queen Elizabeth’s properties as monarch, but where will her personal properties go? While she may write a royal will to distribute the inheritance to her chosen recipients, her million-dollar-worth personal properties are bound by tradition.

Balmoral Castle and Sandringham House are expected to be passed on to the next monarch as it was done this way by their royal predecessors except for the time King Edward VIII abdicated which required successor King George VI to buy the properties.

There are varying estimates of Prince Charles’s current net worth. The values range from around $100 to $400 million – nearing close to the Queen’s net worth.

“London Bridge Operation” protocol is set to take place in the event Queen Elizabeth II passes away, according to a video by Business Insider.

Her private secretary will immediately begin passing the message to the prime minister – who will then inform 15 governments outside U.K. where the Queen serves as Head of State and the 36 Commonwealth nation leaders. Prince Charles will also be informed that he has become the king.

Members of the royal family reportedly carry a black outfit in travel in case that they arrive on land in mourning, according to Harper’s Bazaar.

The country will immediately be on a bank holiday – stock exchange and businesses closed, according to the report. The day of her funeral, which may take place more than a week after her passing, will also be a bank holiday.

Beyond net worth and properties, the Queen holds the record of being the longest-reigning monarch in British history. Her funeral may be the biggest the world has witnessed.
