Motherhood is the only real “full time job” that exists so hats off for all the mothers out there, especially the working ones!
I often see mothers falling in the trap of not taking care of their health, skipping meals, eating easily reachable food, not moving enough, and/or experiencing emotional hunger because of stress. Moms should focus on building consistent and healthy lifestyles for themselves and for their families. It is not an easy task; however mothers are superheroes and no doubt they can always put things in order.
A lot of things can get in the way of losing weight or having healthy lifestyles likes getting consumed in daily chores, helping in kid’s studies, keeping husbands happy, finding time to spend with the family…
Here are some tips for the busy moms to help in becoming healthier:
1-Create a Routine: When you make a schedule, you will be able to be prepared and have some control on how your day will go - Organizing your day can, more or less, save you ALOT of time
2-Eat your Breakfast: It is called the most important meal for a reason! It can help you make healthier choices during the day and will give you the energy you need - Skipping breakfast will make it harder to choose that salad over a cheeseburger. But this doesn’t mean you can mess up neither skip lunch nor dinner!
3-Find at least 30 Minutes for some Physical Activity: It must be a priority due to the benefits on MIND and BODY. Not only will it help you reach your weight goal, but also it will reduce your stress levels - Any physical activity will help you whether you are just walking or going to the gym
4-Get some Sleep: The hardest thing to achieve, especially for new mothers! Most mothers don’t sleep well and that increases their stress, makes them continuously feel tired, and leads to bad eating choices - Tell your husband to help you during the night shift, reduce coffee intake, and nap when your baby is napping…
5-Put Meal Plans & Stock Up on Healthy Foods: Fill up your cabinets and refrigerators with healthy choices so that you and your family will snack on healthy picks and not junk food. You can also find healthier swaps to apply on your food and find healthy recipes
Mothers are their children’s role model, so being healthy will definitely encourage your family to become healthier and happier.
Never underestimate the value of your health to your children. Taking care of yourself is part of taking care of them.
Happy Mother’s Day!
