Thursday, November 8 saw a gathering of fashion lovers, society figures and the great and good of Lebanon for an exclusive gala event centered on a viewing of designer Elie Saab's SS 2018 Haute Couture Collection. The event, hosted by Mssr. Bruno Foucher, the Ambassador of France, and organized by GCL Privé, was rounded off with an incredible meal created by Chef Simone Zanoni, the Michelin Star Chef of the Four Seasons George V, Paris. Funds raised were donated to UNICEF.
The event marked GCL Privé's return to Résidence des Pins. In 1999, the company aided in the reopening of the French Embassy's famous Résidence following the end of the Lebanese Civil War with an incredible gala dinner. Working with Christian Dior, Christian Lacroix, Emmanuel Ungaro, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Thierry Mugler, GCL Privé organized a never-before-seen event where each designer showed 12 pieces from their SS 1999 collections.
This year's event at Résidence des Pins was themed La Création, ou la Culture de l'Excellence (Creation, or the Culture of Excellence), where the world-famous Lebanese designer Elie Saab, with the help of 20 models, presented his stunning SS2018 Haute Couture Collection amid the timeless home of the French ambassador to Lebanon. This elegant evening, with a bespoke menu specially created by Chef Zanoni, was a highlight of Lebanon's cultural calendar.
The evening was made possible by the generosity of Mssr. Foucher, Elie Saab, Four Seasons George V Paris, Paolo Bongia, Air France, Bentley, Blom Bank, Creditbank, Bank Audi, Banque Libano-Française, Manesseh, who supplied the Baccarat and Christofle table settings and La Cave de Joël Robuchon. Mssr. Bongia donated a wonderful collection of jewelry to a silent auction held over the evening with funds raised being donated to UNICEF.
