Under the high patronage of General Jean Kahwaji, Commander in Chief of the Lebanese Army, and for the second consecutive year, the Union of Jezzine Municipalities organized, in collaboration with the Rangers Regiment of the Lebanese Army, "Koun Meghwar La Nhar" (Ranger for a Day) event, a 20km hike in the beautiful nature of Jezzine, on Sunday, July 26, 2015.
The event witnessed the participation of Colonel Edward Ibrahim, representing Army Commander General Jean Kahwaji, as well as Brigadier General Chamel Roukoz, Commander of the Rangers Regiment, and Mr. Khalil Harfouche, President of the Union of Jezzine Municipalities, alongside a number of presidents of municipalities in the region of Jezzine, and more than 2,000 participants from Jezzine and all over Lebanon.
Participants gathered in Jezzine Square by the Municipality, where Mr. Harfouche welcomed the partakers in this event, following which he presented the Union medal to Army Commander Representative, Colonel Edward Ibrahim, as a token of support and solidarity with the Lebanese Army.
Upon the departure signal at 8:00 AM, hikers took off from Jezzine Square towards Wadi Jezzine, up to the Pines Reserve at Bkassine, passing by Dahr El Ramleh, Haytourah, and Ain Zaarour, down towards Jezzine City and Nabeh Al Saydeh, and finally returning to Jezzine Square.
The route included three pauses to rest, with available transportations to participants who wish it, accompanied by members of the Union of Jezzine Municipalities and the Lebanese Red Cross.
A patriotic, environmental, and sports event by excellence, "Koun Meghwar la Nhar" aims to promote environmental awareness, while bringing together civilians and the military, to further strengthen the bonds between them amidst a breathtaking natural surrounding.
