The International Feminisms Festival is an unprecedented event at Proche Orient, entirely dedicated to history and to several issues and challenges that women are facing worldwide. The festival aims to prolong the engagement of women in the Arab world on the long term, and they have become more visible thanks to their voices in the revolutions and online platforms.
Every year, this festival will invite feminist activists, academics, media personalities, artists and intellectuals from all around the world, in the defense and emancipation of women.
Through roundtable discussions, conferences and workshops, this first edition will discuss the rich history and several forms of contestation that built these different feminist actions. It will re-examine the criticism of patriarchy and will present the diverse forms of feminist engagements today, whether political, economic, social or even artistic.
In this context, an exceptional arts program will set the tone for the festival along with a screening of the documentary film Women for Anastasia Mikova and Yann Arthus-Bertrand, the spectacle « L'événement » for Annie Ernaux, performed by Françoise Gillard, societary from the "Comédie française", a conference and an exposition for the international artist ORLAN, the launching of the cinematographic cycle « Militantes au cinéma» - Carte blanche of Nadi Lekol Nas, and a closing evening with music by Dj Chippy Non Stop and Tala Mortada.
Four days to listen, debate and assist to those spectacles, from 27 February to 1 March at l'Institut français du Liban, in a festive atmosphere.
This festival is a unique opportunity to discover and pay tribute to all women who let their voices be heard and rise to the peak to fight for their rights.
An instant arabic-french translation will be available for every event.
The program will be available starting tomorrow on the facebook page of @InstitutFrLiban @joumanahaddadFC @lebanonsupport @isp.usj http://www.facebook.com/aiw.lau.edu.lb #IFF2020lb
