Founded in 2012 by Mia Popescu, percussion teacher and percussionist at the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra, "Beirut Percussion Ensemble" is the ensemble of the Lebanese National Conservatory of Music, with the ambition of motivating Popescu's students practicing the wide range of percussion instruments (xylophone, marimba, triangle, timpanis, conga, vibraphone, snare drum, bongos, maracas, bass drum, tom-toms, cymbals...).
The Amphitheater Pierre Aboukhater in Beirut hosted the musicians for an amazing trip in the world of percussion. Several musical compositions by Contemporary Artists were performed in Classic, Latino and Japanese styles.
The audience greatly appreciated the concert performed by the brilliant musicians: Mia Popescu, Samantha Asswad, Hussein Oraiby, Houssein Hassan, Ahmad Fakih, EyadAyass, Yorgo Khalil, Joyce Boulos and Ariana Gheorghiu.
Mia Popescu aims to make people discover the beauty of the percussion music by organizing yearly a concert opened to all music lovers.
